*6th Graders may participate in practices but not compete in meets/matches.  

Cross country is an outdoor sport for 7^th and 8th-grade students.  The team meets in the undercover area rain or shine.  Practices are Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm and there is a 5:00 pm activity bus for students who are not able to get a ride home.  Athletes will typically run three to four miles each practice and the team runs off campus most days.  The cross-country meet courses are between 1.5 and 2 miles depending on the meet location. 

Cross Country season starts on Monday, September 8th and ends on October 29th.  There are no practices on weekends or days when there is no school.

6^th Grader Participation

Sixth graders are allowed to practice with the team on Mondays and Wednesdays.  They do not compete in meets.  For safety and supervision reasons, 6^th graders need to be able to run a mile in 12 minutes or less.  A coach will time 6^th graders on their first practice to confirm they can meet the 12-minute mile qualifying time.  Additionally, 6^th graders who attend practice but choose not to run will not be allowed to continue with the team.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Track and Field season starts March 31st and ends on May 27th. Track and Field is an outdoor sport that will meet on the track, rain or shine. Practices take place Monday - Thursday from 3:00 pm to 4:40 pm.

Seventh and eighth grade students are eligible to participate in track meets.

Sixth graders are allowed to practice, but they cannot participate in meets.

There is a 5 pm Sports Bus for students who are not able to get a ride home. Students sign up for the Sports Bus during their lunch and should ask lunch supervisors any questions about how to sign up for the Sports Bus.

Parents, if you are picking up your student, please arrive at the school between 4:40 pm and 4:50 pm.

Athletes will be able to participate in several different events:

• There will be three "bi" or "tri" meets which will include all five Everett School District Middle Schools
• A League Preliminary Meet
• A League Championship which athletes may qualify for based on their performance at the Preliminary Meet
• All athletes who are eligible will be able to participate in the first three meets.  Entries for the last three meets will be based on performance in the first three meets.

Welcome to Gateway “Warrior” Guardian Football! Our 1^st practice is on Monday, September 8th, from 3pm-4:45 pm.   Students can take the 5 pm activity bus home. We hold practice 5 days a week Monday-Friday, with 1 Saturday practice for gear check-out on the first weekend of the school year. We will not have practices on non-student days, and our full season lasts approximately 8 weeks with 5-6 games for 8^th grade and 5 games for 7^th grade.

Football is a non-cut sport for 7th and 8th graders, and all skill levels are welcome to join the team. ALL members of the team will play in games; everyone gets an opportunity at this level. Come be a part of this great program!!
